People in the Shire of Boddington have been warned about a fire burning in southern parts of Bannister.

A bushfire advice has been issued for people in an area bounded by Albany Highway to the east, Bannister-Marradong Road to the north and west, and Days Road to the south.

The fire was reported at 10.32am on Thursday and an alert was issued by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services at 11.54am.

The fire started near the intersection of Albany Highway and West Wandering Road.

The bushfire is moving west and there is a lot of smoke in the area.

Drivers are advised to be extremely careful and drive slowly with headlights on.

DFES said there was no threat to lives or homes but people should stay aware of events.

Crews from Boddington, Crossman and Wandering bushfire services are on the scene trying to bring the blaze under control and aerial support is on the way.
