The temperature got up to 35C on Sunday, but that didn’t stop competitors in the first round of the Geraldton Bikes Double/Triple Up series held by the Geraldton Triathlon Club. In the Double Up series, Elijah Burrows won the men’s division, finishing in just under one hour, while Jordan O’Brien came close behind in second and Izac Ronan third. The women’s division was won by Petrina Wakelam, followed by Lisa Bennett and Belinda Box took out third. The Triple Up series was a closely challenged contest that came down to the wire, but it was Kim Schofield that took the late lead and beat Lester Smith, with Russell Browne finishing in third place. In the women’s division for the Triple Up, Mischa Westlake came first and was followed by Lisa Keefe and Brooke Kimpton. Competitors had the option to do the enticer course either once, twice or three times if they were up to the challenge. In the men’s enticer Scott Dethlefsen came first while Jack Ivey and Dwayne Cliff finished second and third respectively. Grace Balmer was the women’s enticer winner, as Karryn Little and Louanne Hardy rounded out the podium.
