Water Corp free program for showerhead swap and plumbing in Cue, Meekatharra, Exmouth, Sandstone, Jurien Bay

A showerhead replacement opportunity has been made available to residents in five Mid West towns, in hopes West Australians will save more water.

The scheme also includes limited free plumbing and irrigation services.

Residents of Cue, Exmouth, Jurien Bay, Meekatharra and Sandstone are eligible for the Water Corporation’s 2022-23 Waterwise Towns Program offers.

The Water Corporation will offer a free showerhead swap and free plumbing and irrigation services after Mid West towns helped save more than 8 million litres of water in 2021-22.

The Showerhead Swap program swaps inefficient showerheads with waterwise alternatives, saving up to 20,000 litres of water per household. This is available in all five towns.

Plumbing services include a leak check and minor repairs and upgrades to water-efficient appliances if required. This is available to all towns except Jurien Bay.

In Jurien Bay and Exmouth, residents can apply for a sprinkler check and help to set up efficient irrigation systems. Some Exmouth residents will receive comparative water use letters to show how their water use compares with that of others, with tips on how to save more water.

Cue, Sandstone and Meekatharra won’t receive the irrigation services. Water Minister Dave Kelly said water leaks could be hidden in places and may go unnoticed for months.

“By making these offers available, the State Government, through Water Corporation is making it easier for residents to identify leaks, upgrade inefficient appliances, and save precious water,” he said.

Registrations for plumbing and irrigation are open until May 1 next year, with limited availability. Showerhead Swap is available until May 31 or until allocations are exhausted.
