Walkaway fire brigade bring Christmas cheer as town’s Santas

Such are the demands of his gig, Santa’s accustomed to getting a little hot under the collar at this time of year. Even more so when you have to make a road trip under a blazing sun. Luckily for Santa, he was on a fire truck on Saturday if things got a little too hot. Sirens sounded and horns honked as Walkaway Fire Brigade members Brendan McCann and Nigel Duncan took the fire truck around the tiny town in the annual lolly drop for children. Helping the pair were the Miller siblings, Kalahni, 9, Finnan, 4, and Knox, 2, making themselves popular with their peers as they threw sweets around the streets. Waiting anxiously for Santa was William Gellatly, 2. Mum Bianca didn’t tell William Santa was on the back of a fire truck. “He loves fire trucks and was excited enough about Santa, he would have been beside himself if he knew a fire truck was coming,” Mrs Gellatly said.
