The Mid West is gearing up for one of racing’s biggest social events: the Walkaway Cup.

There may no longer be a Walkaway Turf Club, but the cup is still going strong and is a tradition-filled event.

It will be held at the Geraldton racecourse on Friday, December 27, and is expected to attract a big crowd.

The old WTC donated money for the stalls area at Geraldton to be updated and improved.

Geraldton hosted the only gallops meeting in WA last Saturday, with extreme heat causing the cancellation of the Perth race meeting.
