Carnarvon will welcome more than 150 delegates from across WA for a tourism conference at the end of May.
The three-day conference will take place from May 25-27, and it is hoped it will highlight Carnarvon’s assets as a tourism destination. The region known as WA’s “food bowl” offers plenty of outdoor activities and beautiful natural landscapes.
WA’s Tourism Council has organised the 2026 Perth Airport WA Tourism Conference, which last year took place in Fremantle.
The conference will feature presentations and networking functions. There will be representatives from Nexus Airlines, Tourism Australia, and Perth Airport.
Exploring topics such as social media marketing, travel trends, and environmental preservation, the conference will be a learning opportunity for local businesses and travelling delegates.
The first day will focus on representatives from visitor centres, and the second will provide updates on the current state, and predictions for the future, of tourism in WA.
The third day will include discussion of partnerships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal businesses, and preserving heritage.
The winners of the hotly contested 7News Top Tourism Town Awards will be announced at a Tuesday dinner, and the winning town will receive a $20,000 advertising package. Geraldton is a finalist in the top tourism town category.
Carnarvon and Jurien Bay are nominated in the small tourism town category, and could take home a $10,000 advertising package.
Kalbarri, Coral Bay, and Gascoyne Junction are finalists in the tiny tourism town category, vying for a $5000 advertising package.
This year’s Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards for Individual Excellence will be announced at the same event.
