La Fiamma have managed to take control of their home field and grab a win against second on the ladder Joondanna in a 2-1 clash. The Reds came into the game heavy underdogs, after falling to 10th on the ladder and having struggled to secure a win in five games. The Blues have had a dominant season, losing just three games and sitting firmly in second on the ladder. Earlier in the week, captain Lachlan Gray said that the team aimed to at least draw their away games and win the home games, and that was what they did in the past two weeks. Starting with a draw they managed to get in the previous week against Murdoch, they secured a win against Joondanna. In the clash, Gray and Ahmad Jamalul Faizal Hatsanee both snagged goals while the team applied the defensive pressure that had been lacking in previous weeks. Holding the Blues to only one goal in the contest was a massive feat, as the side had scores two, four, four, and three goals in the previous games. The win sends La Fiamma up to eight on the ladder, which is a big improvement from where they had been sitting just a few weeks ago. Looking forward, the Reds will now travel and face Woodvale, who are currently sitting bottom of the ladder. If the Reds manage to take the win away, it will help take the pressure off fighting against relegation with only three weeks left to go in the season. The side still has to face the likes of Noranda City, who have had an impressive season, so getting wins on the road will give the Reds confidence going forward. Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma will take on Woodvale FC on Sunday, September 10 at Timberlane Park, with kick-off slated for 3pm.
