Police have arrested and charged three juveniles after they allegedly attempted to cut open a firearm safe with an angle grinder in a home burglary on Monday morning. Police allege three boys aged 10, 12 and 14 jumped a fence in Rangeway and removed a window flywire security mesh to gain entry into a property in Rangeway. While inside the property, police allege the boys stole jewellery and keys before accessing the property’s shed where they took an angle grinder. Geraldton police operations manager Sgt Shilo O’Neill said the accused attempted to cut open a firearm safe with the angle grinder without success. “They re-entered the house and searched for keys for the safe and were unsuccessful,” she said. Sgt O’Neill said the accused boys kicked a door inside the home, causing property damage. It is alleged the boys went to a property next door and committed another burglary where they were captured on CCTV footage. “Police arrested the boys at around 12.25pm in possession of some of the stolen property,” Sgt O’Neill said. The three boys have been charged with aggravated burglary, stealing and criminal damage and were due to face Geraldton Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
