State Government opens Gascoyne Development Commission office in Exmouth ahead of massive 2023 eclipse event

A one-stop hub has now been opened to allow the Exmouth business community to directly access the services of the Gascoyne Development Commission. With economic and tourism opportunities set to soar on the back of unprecedented domestic and international visitors expected with the Ningaloo solar eclipse next year, the State Government has strengthened its presence in the holiday town. Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan was in town last week to open the GDC’s new office at Exmouth’s Ningaloo Centre, co-located with the Minderoo Exmouth Research Laboratory, Ningaloo Discovery Centre and Museum and the local TAFE campus. Ms MacTiernan said the office provided the opportunity for the business community to access the commission’s services, and enabled greater support to the tourism sector, with a newly appointed tourism development manager for Tourism WA to be based at the new premises. The State Government is working on a multi-agency approach to deliver a safe and secure eclipse event for the community and visitors. “This new office provides a modern, central location for the Gascoyne Development Commission, regional development officers, and a new tourism experience development manager, with the facilities required to maximise regional outcomes,” Ms MacTiernan said. “It’s great to see the Ningaloo Centre at full capacity, bringing together key agencies that provide important support in the region’s economic and community development, with the added focus on the Ningaloo total solar eclipse in 2023.”
