Shire of Morawa Galactic Dreamtime workshop receives Regional Arts and Cultural Investment Program grant

The Morawa Youth Centre has received $3000 in State Government funding to support art workshops. A youth-focused Galactic Dreamtime Workshop based in the shire of Morawa is one of five regional art programs to receive up to $3000 in grant funding through the Next Gen funding program. The funding is designed assist art organisations to deliver workshops, classes and training tailored to children and young people to support and employ local artists from a young age. Other recipients are based in the Goldfields-Esperance and Wheatbelt regions. The initiative, delivered by Regional Arts WA, joins the existing Next Level Fellowship program, which offers up to $8000 to regional artists aged 18-26 building a career in arts. The State Government will give out $350,000 over four years through the Regional Arts and Cultural Investment Program (RACIP), designed to support emerging artists and creative professionals in the regions. Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman said supporting young creatives and employing artists would ensure the regional art space continued to flourish. “This funding will help emerging regional artists channel their passion into projects that demonstrate the cultural richness of our diverse and prosperous regional communities,” he said.
