Shire of Carnarvon pledges commitment to nurturing youth during Children’s Week, hosts a family fun day

The Shire of Carnarvon joined in Children’s Week by holding a family fun day at the weekend while celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Shire’s library and art gallery. A family fun gathering was held at Baxter Park on Saturday, October 28 as part of the Gascoyne Early Years Network — growing happy and resilient children in the community. Children’s Week ran from October 21-29, and this year’s theme was “Children have the right to relax, play, and take part in activities they enjoy”. The Shire said it was committed to nurturing the development of young people and families in the community. A range of programs and services offering support locally are offered through the Carnarvon Toy Library, school holiday programs and National Science Week initiatives. The Shire has secured more than $50,000 through the Community Growth Fund and supports childcare workers at the Department of Communities. These achievements ensured the community’s education opportunities were tailored to the needs and aspirations of the community, the Shire said.
