Riders pull out all stops during final race round of Geraldton Motocross season

Adrenaline was pumping as the riders of the Geraldton Motocross Club gave their all in the final race round of the season on Sunday. In the highly competitive C-grade category, Sam Harrison emerged as the day’s hero, engaging in a fierce battle with Makala Edwards and Darcie Dawson for the top spot. This victory was especially sweet for him after clinching the overall first position, as he had worked tirelessly throughout the season to reclaim his former glory after two consecutive seasons marred by injury. His mother Lisa Harrison shared her joy over his win and the obstacles he has overcome. “We’re so proud of how Sam has ridden this season, to come back after two years of serious injury, he’s really given it a good crack this year and worked his way up the ranks,” she said. In the A-grade category, the competition was nothing short of thrilling, and Harley Box left it all on the track, holding off challenges from Seth Patience, Jared Blakeney and Ricky Edwards until just before the very end. But ultimately Patience emerged victorious. Box and Blakeney, both riding in A-grade and veterans, provided spectators with some of the most exciting battles of the season. However, the absolute stand-out of the day was young Angus Fay in the junior category, with club president Steve Harrison describing Fay as being “on fire today”. Fay’s fearless riding saw him conquer jumps that even some of the A-grade seniors would hesitate to tackle, making his display one of the season’s highlights. Harrison further reflected on the season overall after round six wrapped up the season for the Geraldton Motocross Club. “As volunteers, we put so much time and effort into the running of the Geraldton Motocross Club and the race season, so it’s such a pleasure to watch our rider’s progress throughout the season and put in so much hard work on the track,” he said.
