Police name motorist who died in crash near Carnarvon

Police have released the name of a man who died in a car crash on North West Coastal Highway near Carnarvon on Sunday night.

He was Craige Darren Smith, 45, of Australind.

Police said Mr Smith was driving a Ford Falcon ute at South Plantations, about 5km east of Carnarvon, when he crashed into a small sign post.

A passing motorist raised the alarm after finding Mr Smith unresponsive.

Emergency services were unable to revive him.

A police spokeswoman said the cause of death would be determined by a coroner.
