OCs and Lakers take out the win in the Carnamah/Coorow basketball league grand finals

The Carnamah/Coorow basketball association is celebrating another successful season and has been awarded a grant to make much needed repairs to its outdoor courts.
In the men’s competition OCs claimed a 38-31 win over the Bunjil Bandits, with Simon Brandenburg being awarded the game’s best player.
OCs entered as the top side after getting up over Morawa in the semifinals, while the Bandits had to work through the preliminaries, where they dominated in every game before falling in the grand final.
The women’s grand final was a rematch of the semifinal from just two weeks earlier and the result didn’t change as Lakers grabbed another convincing win over the Stars 47-24.
Bertha McIntosh was awarded the grand final’s best player for her game high 19-point performance.
Following the grand finals, the league association awards were presented with Bruce Chisholm from OCS winning the men’s fairest and best, after a season where he finished as the league’s leading scorer with a combined 139 points.
Katrina Clayton from the Lakers took out the women’s top award, where she also was the league leading scorer in the women’s, with a total of 122.
The grassroots league is comprised of six men’s teams from Morawa, Three Springs and Carnamah along with four women’s sides.
Along with the celebrations of the grand final, the association can celebrate after being awarded a Bright Energy Investments Grant.
The grant will go towards much needed upgrades for the outdoor courts, which is planned to take place in the near future.
