Northampton COVID Connect Support Group to hold car rally

There’s to be no speeding, no overloading of people and it’s a non-contact event. Apart from that, it’s all engines go. Literally. When COVID-19 stopped the world, a COVID Connect Support Group was formed in Northampton. To do, as the name suggests, support folk with mental challenges created by the times. Now it’s time for some fun. On Saturday, the group is having a COVID Car Rally. Two in fact, as those unable to leave home can join a virtual rally. A fun committee — led by head clown Wren Fisher and assisted by fellow clowns Skye Fisher and Kylie Eastough — was formed. They were hearing the same message: people needed to get out and have some fun. So a car rally, in two sections over 180km of sealed and unsealed roads, has been arranged. “We’re getting families out and about in our fabulous shire,” Wren said. “They’ll be answering riddles and clues and doing fun activities. We’ve got a Laugh-o-meter and there will be prizes to people who make the clowns laugh the most. “Teams can create a funny name and dress to match — and wear a hat. Northampton is much more than community, we are a family. “But we will be upset if cars do not check in when they finish the rally — and will send the police, firies, army, your mum and the lone ranger out to find you.”
