Art, beauty and community were celebrated in Mullewa at the weekend as local artist Helen Ansell reopened her celebrated studio gallery, highlighting the best and most vibrant time of the year for the region. On Sunday, August 6, Mullewa’s own internationally acclaimed Australian artist, known for vibrant paintings capturing WA’s natural landscapes and native flora and fauna, invited guests to her studio on Jose Street as it reopened for the wildflower season. Ansell’s Wildflower Season Gallery Cafe and studio is now open to tourists, who are set to flood into town seeking out the abundance of unique wildflowers expected to bloom in the Mid West spring. Ansell’s contributions to Australian art, as well as her international recognition in publications such as House and Garden, Vogue Living, and Vanity Fair, add to the anticipation surrounding the wildflower season. Visitors to the reopening event were greeted with a glass of champagne as they explored the studio and were offered an array of new works of art and wildflower-inspired creations. Ansell greeted guests, offering an insight into her processes and inspiration, through a deep connection with the land.
