Mount Magnet councillors have voted unanimously to support a historic hotel’s application for a liquor licence.

Shire president Jorgen Jensen said the Mount Magnet Hotel was one of the town’s first establishments, which changed hands and closed about a decade ago.

“The town sort of struggled to have three viable pubs,” he said.

The owner is now working on some exterior renovations.

The licence still needs to be approved by the State Government, but Cr Jensen said the hotel would help accommodate the town’s growing number of visitors.
