The best young Indigenous football talent across the Mid West will be on display in Geraldton at the Jambinu Carnival. The two-day carnival will gather four teams made up of boys and girls who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander who were born between 2008 and 2010, or aged 13-15. The carnival will comprise six teams — Geraldton, Mullewa, Northampton, Gascoyne, North Midlands and Murchison. The Gascoyne combined team will be made up of Carnarvon, Exmouth, Burringurrah, Shark Bay and Useless Loop players, the North Midlands combined team will have players from Morawa, Three Springs, Yalgoo, Mingenew and Dongara, while the Murchison combined team has Meekatharra, Mt Magnet, Cue, Wiluna and Karalundi players. The Jambinu Carnival was born from the idea of bringing the excitement of the Nicky Winmar Carnival and the Kirby Bently Cup to Geraldton. The carnival will take place on September 15-16 at GBSC Sports Park in Geraldton.
