A 50-year-old man died after suffering what police have described as a “medical episode” outside a hotel in Cue last night.

Police said the man collapsed while walking to his vehicle.

At the time officers were responding to an incident in which a person was assaulted with a glass jug, which led to the pub being closed and patrons asked to leave.

A WA Police spokesman said about 50 people had gathered at the hotel after a funeral.

“As patrons were leaving, some of them threw objects at police and the hotel,” the spokesman said.

Officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived, but the man was unable to be revived.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the man before he collapsed to contact Cue Police or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
