Passengers involved in a car accident were trapped in a car for eight hours before a truck driver found them this morning.

WA Police have confirmed there has been a major crash on a remote road about 170km north of Wiluna.

Mid West Gascoyne District Inspector Dave Hooper said the serious crash occurred on an unsealed road between Kumarina and Wiluna.

Believed to be a single car incident, the crash was reported by a truck driver who came across the scene and informed police when he had phone signal at 8.30am.

“We suspect the accident happened about midnight,” he said.

“It’s a horrible situation. People have been in situ for at least eight hours before help came.”

The number of passengers and their injuries are unconfirmed at this stage.

Police from Meekatharra and Wiluna are at the scene, while units from the Major Crash Section are en route from Perth.
