Major Crash investigating fatal two-truck crash in Meekatharra, with road closures on Great Northern Highway

Major Crash officers are investigating a fatal crash that saw two trucks collide not far from Meekatharra on Monday night. The crash resulted in road closures in the area while Major Crash investigated the scene. At the time of publication, it was not known how the trucks collided or how many people had died. At about 10pm police attended the fatal crash located on Great Northern Highway about 60km north east of the Mid West town of Meekatharra. Major Crash investigators travelled to the scene on Tuesday to examine the cause of the collision. Police said parts of the Great Northern Highway between Meekatharra and Newman would be closed for some time and vehicles are being asked to avoid the area. According to the WA Road Safety Commission, in 2021 there were nine fatal road incidents in the Mid West and Gascoyne district.
