A children’s book that tells the stories of a Jurien Bay local who grew up by the sea was launched on Saturday with a colouring-in competition and book giveaways. On February 4, children met at the jetty to participate in a colouring-in competition for local woman Penelope Normington’s book launch Storytelling by the Sea. The book, Little book of Ocean Fables, is a children’s book set with stories from Ms Normington’s time by the sea and a colouring-in book with illustrations drawn by her son as a child. Ms Normington said the book was locally written, illustrated and produced in Australia and promoted “our beautiful Mid West coast”. “It was such a lovely setting to read to kids and capture their imagination,” she said. Ms Normington said she was launching a web page with ocean activism, ocean merchandise, ocean escapades and ocean fables and poetry.
