Knockout singles bowls competition and early Easter celebration highlights of month for seniors action group

A new singles bowls knockout competition was launched last year with participants enjoying the event, leading to plans to make the tournament a monthly fixture. Organised by the bowling committee, the event on April 11 was won by Bob Taylor. Congratulations to Bob and runner-up Leila Green. A note will be placed on the noticeboard to put your name down if you are interested. The next competition will be on May 16. There will be one in the morning and another in the afternoon, so two opportunities to have a go. On April 12, a small early Easter celebration was held at the monthly lunch meeting, with 41 in attendance and five apologies. President Lina Mittoni welcomed all and card raffle winners for the day were Doreen Major and Pat Clews. Minutes of previous monthly and executive meetings were read and endorsed, and reports from committee groups were called for. Next month’s free lunch was drawn and the winner was Judy Kendrick-Currell. Heather Allen has agreed to be auditor for 2022. Our President had prepared several prizes for an Easter raffle and these were drawn. Winners were Louise O’Malley, Pauline Stacey, Lyn Blackmore, Sandy Chapman, Ken O’Neill (x3), Bev Daniels, Pat Parker(x2), Coral Vomeiro (x2) and Chris Brewer. Prizes were handed out from smallest to largest and Olga Miragliotta won the big prize. Congratulations to all. A delicious lunch was served of home-made crumbed chicken, chips and garden salad with sweets of trifle, ice-cream and fresh fruit. These lunches only cost $10 with a free morning tea at 10am. Come along and enjoy.
