Police have found human remains on a truck that exploded on the Menzies Road about 42km south of Sandstone on Friday.

The driver is believed to have been Perth man Tony Hickey, 67.

The Geraldton Guardian understands he was carrying a quantity of explosives to a licensed blast site at Bulga Downs station for disposal.

A police spokeswoman said an explosion occurred on the truck, and she was unable to confirm whether or not the remains were those of Mr Hickey.

“The matter is now being investigated as a Coronial Investigation,” she said.
