‘Horrible ... disrespectful’: Carnarvon World War I memorial vandalised

Carnarvon police dealt with a “horrible” and “disrespectful” incident last night as a prominent World War I memorial was defaced with vulgar drawings 40 metres from the Gascoyne RSL branch. The cenotaph was allegedly defaced in the early hours of the morning by four juveniles from the area who police say were “located and dealt with immediately”. Gascoyne Returned and Services League (RSL) president Bruno Bacci said “penises up to three foot long” were drawn on all sides of the monument. “I’m angry,” he said. “It’s only a week away from ANZAC day and we’re all going through a hard enough time as is. “There’s just no respect these days, and when kids can’t respect themselves they don’t respect anyone else.”
