Giant fungi have been appearing at Nukara Farm in Chapman Valley this winter. Chapman Valley property owners Phil and Donna Blakeway are yet to have them formally identified but they are thought to be Phlebopus marginatus or salmon gum mushrooms. Sommer Wells took the picture above of her son Fletcher, 4, with one of the giant toadstools while camping on the property at the end of June. On August 16, Donna snapped an even larger fungus, below, while out on a walk on the Nanson property. It dwarfed her ladies’ size 10 boot.
