Geraldton youth airlifted to Perth after Brand Highway crash
A 17-year-old Geraldton youth was flown by rescue chopper to Royal Perth Hospital after a car crash on Brand Highway near Badgingarra on Friday.
Sergeant Drew Taylor of Jurien Bay Police Station said the youth was a passenger in a car which ran off the road and rolled near the intersection of Bibby Road about 3.30pm.
He said the driver, a Gosnells man aged 40, was not injured.
A passerby raised the alarm.
The youth was taken by ambulance to Moora and then airlifted to Perth by RAC rescue chopper.
He was discharged on Sunday.
Sgt Taylor said the driver told police he felt a problem with the car’s rear left tyre immediately before the crash.
No charges have been laid.
Sgt Taylor urged drivers to take care at all times and to also slow down whenever emergency vehicles were at work on the side of the road.
He said a number of drivers were travelling at high speed past the accident scene, prompting police to close the road until it was cleared.
