Geraldton Police investigate rock-throwing on Abraham St after a second vehicle is damaged there

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a group of juveniles hanging around Abraham Street in Karloo after a rock was launched at a vehicle cracking its windscreen at the same location where a six-year-old girl was hit in similar circumstances last month. Geraldton Police allege between 5.40pm and 5.50pm on Friday, November 3, unknown suspects have propelled a large rock at a white Kia Sportage travelling along Abraham Street, causing the front windscreen to crack. Officer in charge Sen. Sgt Chris Martin said at the time, several juveniles were seen fleeing the scene of the incident. “Police are appealing to anyone with dashcam footage or (who) are aware of those responsible to contact us,” he said. The incident comes weeks after a father spoke out after his daughter was hit in the back of his car in a similar incident. Blair Lavender’s six-year-old daughter was left cut and bloodied when a rock propelled through their car window on their way home from horse riding lessons on Friday, October 20. Mr Lavender said four boys targeted his vehicle with a ging while he was travelling on Abraham St, Karloo. Although she was not seriously injured, Mr Lavender said his daughter was left scared and traumatised from the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
