Geraldton hosts Revolve Skate Series over weekend with State’s top talent participating

The City of Greater Geraldton hosted the second event of the Revolve Skate Series over the weekend, which has grown to become Western Australia’s largest community-run skateboard circuit. Riders travelled to the Mid West from as far away as Dunsborough to compete at the Wonthella Skatepark on Saturday, November 11. Seasoned skaters and newcomers alike participated in the three divisions: street, park, and bowl, spanning across age categories including under-eight, U-12, U-16, girls, and open divisions. Community donations poured in from Shah’s Art Studio, RATSALAD, and many others, contributing to the substantial prize pool that was distributed Sunday morning due to Saturday’s storm. The day included food stalls from local vendors and a performance by the 2022 and 2023 Battle of the Bands youth band winners, Psychedelic Foot Fungus. Local band RATSALAD breezed through their repertoire as the open street competition heated up amidst flashes of lightning and heavy rain. Rain brought the day to an early close, but most were prepared to resume on Sunday morning for the impromptu finals in the open park section and a grand bowl-jam finale. Organisers wanted to express their thanks from Infinity Skate for the community’s patience and understanding on the skate park’s busiest day of the year, and are looking to come back to the Mid West again. “Look out Jurien Bay, the Revolve Skate Series is coming your way in early 2024,” they said.
