Geraldton detectives are investigating a fire at a miners’ accommodation complex in Mount Magnet, which caused significant damage to a building this month. About 5.30am on Saturday, January 13, emergency services were notified a house was on fire at mine site accommodation in Kennedy Court. A Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) spokesperson said the emergency services at the mine site attended the fire and extinguished it by 7.15am. The spokesperson confirmed DFES did not need to attend but were advised the building suffered “significant damage”. There is no estimated damage cost determined. Geraldton detectives are treating the blaze as suspicious and are appealing for information from the public.
