Geraldton detectives are investigating a robbery at Woolworths Seacrest after a store manager in her 60s was assaulted when she challenged two young suspects. On Monday about 4.50pm, detectives allege two girls entered the Woolworths store in Seacrest Shopping Centre when the staff recognised them over an alleged stealing matter on Saturday. Acting Detective Sen. Sgt Simon Harrison said the staff members observed a female suspect put groceries in a bag before attempting to leave the store without paying. He said the suspects were stopped by a 61-year-old female store manager who attempted to retrieve the goods. The suspects struggled to get away, kicking the manager in the leg and fleeing the shopping centre. The bag of goods, valued at $68, was dropped by the accused and recovered by staff. “Police are canvassing CCTV to try and identify the accused,” Sen. Sgt Harrison said. Detectives are making inquiries and believe the female suspects are responsible for a number of matters in Perth. Anyone with information are urged to contact the Geraldton Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
