Geraldton and Mid West welcomes Australian Heritage Festival to celebrate local culture

Geraldton and the Mid West are preparing to celebrate its natural and cultural heritage this month with the beginning of the Australian Heritage Festival. More than 120 events will be staged across the State by The National Trust of WA, in honour of Australia’s rich and diverse heritage. “It’s wonderful to see a large number of free events on offer, as well as a huge range of family-friendly experiences taking place throughout the school holidays,” National Trust CEO Julian Donaldson said. The theme for the 2023 festival is “shared stories”, providing an opportunity to explore the complex history of Western Australia and share stories of our unique heritage. To keep things gentle on the wallet, the National Trust has waived the membership fee of $35 for the duration of the festival between April 10 and May 14. Members are able to bring a friend for free, making any ticket purchased as a member “buy one get one free”. Events happening in the Mid West include: Whispered Stories Kids Writing Workshop (April 13). Discover the Wondrous Gems of John Cyril Hawes (April 28).
