Mid West foodies will be salivating at the program of delicious events lined up for this year’s Gascoyne Food Festival, which starts this week.

Touted as the “ultimate excuse” for a WA road trip, the festival is a showcase of regional produce and the talent of local growers.

The six-week program kicks off with a community barbecue in Carnarvon tomorrow, with the first major event to be the long-table dinner at Bentwaters Plantation on Friday.

Complementing the events in and around Carnarvon are a range of activities in Shark Bay, Coral Bay, Exmouth and Mt Augustus.

A black-tie event at the Whalebone Brewing Company in Exmouth on Friday is one of the new additions to the festival program, with guests to enjoy all the pizza and smoked meat their hearts desire.

Another program highlight is the Dirk Hartog Island Life Festival, which runs from August 26-30.

The festival ends with a luxurious lunch at the RAC Ningaloo Reef Resort in Coral Bay on September 18. Visit gascoynefoodfestival. com.au to register.
