Some of the Gascoyne’s amazing artists gathered on Friday night for the opening and awards ceremony of the Gascoyne Art Awards 2026 exhibition.
One of Carnarvon’s longest running cultural events, the exhibition showcased 64 pieces of original local artwork.
Taking place at Carnarvon Library and Art Gallery, all artworks except for the overall winner are available for sale.
The exhibition opened on Friday and will run until August 29. Until the exhibition closes, art lovers can vote for their favourite artwork for the people’s choice award.
Acclaimed performer Famous Sharron was in town to host the event, which showcases local talent.
Markham Boston took home the best overall prize with his Sculpture without Wazza, with Sofie Seyah coming in as runner-up.
The natural beauty of the area was highlighted in Alice Linford Forte’s work, which won the Gascoyne landscape award, and Caitlin Fitzgerald won the Gascoyne seascape award.
Sadie James picked up the award for human form, and Xavier Cox was recognised for his 3D work.
Karla Tittums took home the award for Gascoyne First Nations art, and Marlene Anderson took home the award for abstract art.
