Future of Jurien Bay Hall set to be decided at final public meeting next week

The Jurien Bay community is invited to have have their say on the future of the town hall at next week’s public meeting. Shire of Dandaragan will host a final community meeting and workshop about the future of the Jurien Bay Hall, to be held from 5.30pm next Thursday at the Jurien Bay Education and Conference Centre. The Jurien Bay Hall has hosted community events, dances, and youth group activities over the years and played an important role for many current and former residents of the town. The Shire has committed to review the future of the hall, while keeping the community informed through the process. A survey put out by the Shire last year asked the community what they thought the future of the hall should be and was completed by 129 people. Since then the Shire has reviewed the options that received a lot of support and investigated the costs of each option. During the process, they have also received interest from the local Jurien Bay Veterans Inc. to redevelop the site and would like to gather community sentiment on this additional option as well. Laura Grey, the heritage specialist assisting the Shire, will share the results of the survey, provide her views on the heritage and historical value of the hall.
