An investigation has been launched into reported fish kills in parts of Ningaloo Marine Park potentially associated with a coral spawning event. Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development counted 16,000 dead fish on the morning of March 28. Dead fish and slicks in the water were observed at Turquoise Bay and Yardie Creek, with fish kill reports from Bills Bay and Coral Bay. Department officers are gathering information on the extent of the fish kill including collecting relevant samples for laboratory testing.
