Women of all ages and backgrounds are invited to join a Geraldton chapter of the group International Women’s Circle. Convener Erica Dimock said it was open to all women and was not intended to be a New Age or religious group. “It’s for any women to give support to each other,” she said. “They can be mothers, grandmothers, businesswomen, an artist or a writer or a farmer’s wife or whatever. “I envision it to be complete unconditional love, there is no judgment of anyone but there are standards to be set because we don’t want to offend anybody.” Ms Dimock said the format was simple. “Everybody shares how they are and a few words about themselves, then we’ll have a speaker, then they mingle with each other,” she said. “They get to meet a lady, a new friend they might not have got to know.” Ms Dimock decided to start the Geraldton chapter after attending an International Women’s Circle gathering on the lawns of Deepwater Point, Mt Pleasant, Perth. Founder Sylvia Marina, who describes herself as a human behaviour trauma specialist and life elder, began by gathering women for International Women’s Day last year. She said had intended a “one-off” event but after a two-hour morning session the 26 women present persuaded her to continue. The first gathering will be on Monday, March 9, at St Georges Beach.
