Two Mid West roads have been named in a list of the riskiest roads in regional WA, according to RAC. Chapman Valley Road in Naraling, 52km from Geraldton, was named as the eighth most dangerous road in regional Western Australia. Risk factors included narrow road, lanes or bridges, poor road surface quality and tight curves or blind crests. The 2022 survey received more than 10,000 nominations to determine the most dangerous roads and intersections in metropolitan and regional WA according to voters. Indian Ocean Drive was ranked fourth between Yanchep to Arrowsmith as it lacks overtaking opportunities and was narrow with tight curves or blind crests. Ranked the most dangerous road was South Western Highway between Bunbury and Walpole for lacking overtaking opportunities, narrow roads and tight curves or blind crests. Second was Great Eastern Highway for poor surface quality, narrow roads and lacking overtaking opportunities and third was Albany Highway for the similar issues.
