Central Midlands Coastal leagues’ finals set after last round of home and away season comes to an end
The Central Midlands Coastal netball and hockey leagues are set for a thrilling finals series, after the home and away fixtures for both leagues came to a close over the weekend.
Jurien Bay finished with the minor premiership in the CMC Netball Association, after picking up a 10-goal win against reigning premiers Dandaragan.
It was a close game throughout, but the Bulldogs were able to edge in front before breaking away, claiming the 50-40 win.
Jurien Bay’s Sian Hill was key to their win, while Remy Rackemann and Millie Park also had strong contributions.
Meanwhile, Erin O’Brien performed strongly in her side’s loss, as they aim to finish strong to go back-to-back.
In the other match, Cervantes proved too strong for Lancelin-Ledge Point, winning 52-39.
Tiger Shark Madison Hunter had a strong day out, as did Pirate Joelene Paterson in a losing side.
Week one of the finals begins on Saturday August 10, where the Pirates face Dandaragan in the elimination final.
The following week, the Bulldogs host the Tiger Sharks for a spot in the grand final.
In the hockey, top of the ladder Dandaragan continued its momentum into the finals with a 6-0 win over Jurien Bay, while Cervantes took the win 1-0 over Lancelin-Ledge Point.
The Tiger Sharks will go into their elimination final as favourites against Jurien Bay this Saturday, while the Saints will take on Morawa next week to determine the first spot in the grand final.
