The make up of the top four of the Central Midlands Coastal Football League has been decided, with Dandaragan securing the league’s minor premiership after finishing on top at the end of the home and away season.

It was a top of the table clash between the Saints and Jurien Bay on Saturday, with the winner likely to finish as the top seed with the Bulldogs a game behind.

They looked to take the fight to Dandaragan at Jurien Shire Oval, with neither team was able to get more than three goals of separation throughout.

The Saints held a narrow lead at quarter time, before extending it to 16 points at the main break.

The sides traded goals at times, but Dandaragan was able to keep their opponents at arm’s length, navigating themselves to the 9.14 (68) to 9.6 (60) win.

Forward Campbell Putland kicked three goals in the victory, making it 34 goals for the season.

The win secured the minor premiership for the Saints, but Jurien Bay was able to maintain their spot in second despite Cervantes securing a big win against Lancelin-Ledge Point.

The Tiger Sharks, who went into round 15 four points and percentage behind second-placed Jurien Bay, needed to win by a considerable amount away from home against the Pirates to be any chance of securing a top-two finish.

From early in the contest, Lancelin-Ledge Point were out to prove they weren’t just making up the numbers, competing with Cervantes in the first term.

They kicked five goals, but trailed the Tiger Sharks by seven points at quarter time.

The game began to get away from the Pirates in the second, with Cervantes on a mission.

They needed to score heavily and restrict their opponents in order to leap into second place.

The Tiger Sharks piled on the pain, kicking 12 goals to just four to pick up the win.

However, it wasn’t enough to jump ahead of Jurien Bay, despite their loss to flag-favourites Dandaragan.

With Moora having the bye, the make up of the top four was locked, with round 15 proving to be a finals preview.

This Saturday, August 10 will see Cervantes take on the Pirates at home in the elimination final, while Dandaragan and Jurien Bay will face off once again the week after for a spot in the decider.
