Carnarvon School of the Air receives $54k grant under State Government’s Creativity for Schools program

Carnarvon School of the Air has been awarded more than $50,000 in State Government funding to roll out a creative storytelling project using various media and music this year. Under the Cook Government’s Creativity for Schools program, Carnarvon School of the Air will use its $54,300 grant to fund a collaboration with Creatlity artists, which will see students write a song and create a video. It is one of 16 successful applicants in the latest round of funding, sharing in a total pool of more than $627,000. A wide array of projects are supported, including music, visual arts, video production, circus acts, puppetry, dancing, writing, publishing, conservation and botany. Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman said the program opened up many opportunities for students to learn from artistic professionals, which will help build up their creativity and critical thinking skills. “This is the third round of funding from this program, which has attracted a high number of applications, and all successful projects are extremely worthy recipients,” he said.
