Cardinals celebrate 90th birthday with big win and a cuppa
Ninety not out. So it was a good excuse for the Cardinals Hockey Club to get together.
Past and present members did such recently, watching their A-grade side win 7-0 and then chatting over a cuppa.
Just weeks after the Geraldton Ladies Hockey Association started 90 years ago, the two clubs had name changes.
Quabba became Imperials, while Wambu became Cardinals.
The only alteration since, apart from some uniform changes, was 30 years ago, when Cardinals joined forces with men’s club Rovers.
There was plenty of talk about the past — and a fair bit about a big party the club is planning in a decade.
