Bratwurst boost to beach upgrades

The Beresford foreshore development is a success for the City of Greater Geraldton and the people. Especially for all dog lovers, coffee drinkers and exercise fans. This cold September morning we visited Alex Stellmach at his AJ’s Beach Cafe and found ourselves among his clients enjoying the bit of sunshine cutting through the fresh breeze during this unusual chilly beginning of spring in Geraldton. “How long have you been here?” I ask Alex. “We just had our first anniversary on August 12, so just over a year. We are going good with its few challenges in the first year. But good support from local people. I think we have added to the area with our cafe and its products,” he says. “We are open seven days a week from 8am to 5pm unless the weather is really bad.” Alex agreed the foreshore development, with its broad pathways and native bush planting, is a credit to the City. He is especially keen to see people come along exercising with their puppies and children. Alex comes from Germany and with his father, they create a special flavour of a German sausage called bratwurst. He shared some of his culinary arts with us and we were impressed by the different flavours, to the point of taking a sample home. It’s good to see people from overseas make a home here. It looks like the making of a great summer by the beach in 2021.
