Fresh from his visit to the Netherlands to promote another book, Geraldton historian and author Howard Gray has won an award for history book Jambinbirri-Champion Bay.

“Each year the Royal WA Historical Society has an award for the best book on the history of Western Australia,” Dr Howard said.

“This year there was apparently 10 entries, which is pretty good, and they come from the big publishing companies such as UWA Press and so on.”

“So it’s nice to be in that mix and to find that we’ve got such a good history here. When it’s put together well it sort of matches up with what comes from elsewhere.”

Dr Howard has published Jambinbirri-Champion Bay under his own trade name, Westralian Books.
