A man has been charged after police allegedly discovered 2.5kg of compressed cannabis in the boot of a car at Dongara last night.

Police say they stopped the Holden Commodore on Brand Highway about 11pm and decided to search the car.

Inside the boot, they allegedly found five vacuum-sealed bags containing the cannabis.

A Karratha man, 45, was later charged with possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply.

He has been bailed to appear before court at a later date.
