Alleged drink driver charged over attempted robbery

Staff reporterMidwest Times

A 51-year-old Mount Magnet man has been charged over an attempted armed robbery at a Geraldton service station, after he was allegedly caught drink driving.

The man allegedly blew in excess of 0.08 when stopped by police in Mount Magnet yesterday.

But officers then realised he was a suspect in an attempted armed robbery at a Coles Shell Express service station in Mahomets Flats on Saturday night.

Police will allege he entered the business, threatened staff and demanded money, before leaving empty-handed about 10.30pm.

He was charged with attempted armed robbery and refused bail.

He will appear in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court.
