ABC Foundation set to host community wellness fair in Carnarvon to support mental health
A Gascoyne town is set to host its Community Wellness Fair as part of Mental Health Day later this month.
The event, run by the ABC Foundation, aims to highlight mental health as an issue impacting a variety of different people.
The fair is set to provide a series of workshops led by industry professionals to discuss a range of topics, including mindfulness, stress management, and coping strategies, while also helping individuals navigate the complex nature of mental health.
The foundation’s head of community projects and partnerships Karen Stead hoped the event would help make an impact.
“The Community Wellness Fair is more than just an event, it’s a movement toward a healthier, more connected community,” she said.
“We’re bringing people together to show that mental health is a shared responsibility, and together, we can make a real difference.”
The event will serve a broad audience to cater to Carnarvon’s diverse population.
Local mental health organisations including Helping Minds and the Aboriginal Medical Services will be in attendance to offer support.
Meanwhile, a kids zone will also be there to engage children through arts and crafts relating to communicating their emotions.
The event will take place at the Carnarvon Fascine on Wednesday, October 9.
