Centacare Geraldton has received a $55,000 Lotterywest grant to provide emergency relief for Mid West and Gascoyne residents experiencing financial hardship.

Part of the money will fund the not-for-profit family services provider’s back-to-school program, which provides more than 700 stationery packs to underprivileged children.

It will also go towards services including family counselling, victim support, child witness support, grief counselling and dispute resolution.

Each year Centacare Geraldton helps more than 9000 people, according to the organisation.

Member for the Agricultural Region Laurie Graham presented the grant at a ceremony in Geraldton.
