Emergency services responded to a vehicle fire on Indian Ocean Drive in the Mid West early on Tuesday.

Police went to the scene of a possible traffic crash at Indian Ocean Drive in Nambung, about 1km south of Cervantes Road. They say a 4WD, possibly a Pajero, caught fire about 1.30am and was put out by Department of Fire and Emergency Services crews.

It was expected that Indian Ocean Drive would be closed for several hours on Tuesday, from Pinnacles Road northbound and Cervantes Road southbound.

The road was still closed at the time of print.

How many people were involved and the nature of any injuries was unclear.
