250 attend CBH Silo outdoor movie night and annual 360 race in Three Springs

Three Springs residents welcomed back the 360 Off-Road Racing round after two years, followed by a successful outdoor movie screening on the well-known CBH silos. The Shire of Three Springs transformed the CBH silos into the State’s biggest outdoor projection screen and successfully held the Re-imagining Three Springs: Silo Movie Night and Three Springs 360 on Saturday, September 23. Battleship starring Liam Neeson and Rihanna screened on the silos, with more than 250 people in attendance. As the sun set, the crowd was entertained by local musician Warwick Trant and the kids had fun with face painting by Anne Marie Connaughton. The Western Australian Off-Road Racing Association was also welcomed back after heavier-than-usual rain made the salt lake track inaccessible in 2021 and 2022, leaving the Shire unable to hold its annual 360 race. Three Springs Shire president Chris Lane said the weekend was a huge success with a spectacular movie experience on the silos, while the 360 event was well-received after the two-year break. “With the main street closed to traffic, people made themselves comfortable in camping chairs and bean bags — one couple brought recliner lounge chairs on the back of an old truck and parked up early before the barriers were set,” Cr Lane said. The Shire plans to hold three to four events a year that tie into existing events including ANZAC Day and the WA Off-Road Race weekend, while holding regular short films throughout wildflower season when the town is at its peak. Cr Lane extended her gratitude to the food vendors, Shire staff, the Three Springs Netball Club and other community groups for their catering efforts. “These events would not be possible without the support of CBH, Arc Infrastructure, Main Roads and Tourism WA Regional Events Scheme,” she said. “The Shire of Three Springs is especially grateful for the support of the community and hope to continue to provide an added element to the experience of visiting or living in Three Springs.”
